On April 21st 2005, the UCSD Student-Run Free Clinic
Project will be hosting its annual fundraiser event. The UCSD
Student-Run Free Clinic Project runs at three sites throughout
San Diego to provide basic medical care for those without access
to healthcare, including working poor, homeless, and indigent
individuals and families. Since its inception in 1997, the clinic
has served over 5,000 patients. In addition to medical and dental
services, we offer social service referrals, acupuncture therapies,
and counseling.
We collaborate with the UCSD School of Pharmacy, the UCSF School
of Pharmacy, the Taking Control of Your Diabetes Program, the
Pacific College of Oriental Medicine and many others in order
to ensure an integrated and comprehensive approach to care.
Our clinics are staffed by community physicians, dentists, pharmacists,
UCSD medical students, and other health professionals, many
of whom generously donate their time. Moreover, our community
partnerships with the Pacific Beach United Methodist Church,
Baker Elementary School in Southeast San Diego, and the Third
Avenue Charitable Organization at the First Lutheran Church
in Downtown San Diego, enable us to serve diverse populations.
